Based in New York City, I use photography — with a focus on light and movement — to convey everyday scenes in an artistic but raw format. I solely use film: for me, traditional black & white analog contains both the depth and textured, manipulatable material quality best for expressing feeling and vulnerability in photographic art. The shot is, as they say, only half of the photo. The rest occurs under the red light, and to me, manipulating the raw shot in the darkroom is like painting with real life.
I print my photos in the darkroom; however, the photos on this website are negative scans for transferability reasons. Forgive me, then, if what you see are only half-photographs.
I typically use a Nikon F6, 35mm analog camera. Film varies, but I have a general preference for Ilford Delta 100. Most prints can be comfortably blown up to a 16” x 20” scale, if not larger; scans can assume an even bigger format.
